Will I be in a class with BSSS students?
For some classes you will be combined with BSSS students while other will be IB only classes.
Will I be separated from the main group of students?
Your day to day schedule will be similar to the BSSS students with some class run together, however, at other times you will be doing slightly different things that are only for IB students.
Will it be a heavier workload?
You will have more classes than the BSSS students but over the two years of senior study you might end up doing less assessment items.
What about AST prep? Can I do an ASBA still?
You are not required to complete the AST so do not have to attend the AST prep. You currently can’t complete an ASBA and the IB DP.
Can I take on a leadership role in the college?
Yes, you can still take on a leadership role at the college.
What happens to IB students when BSSS are on leave?
At sometimes during the year IB classes will still run and you are expected to be at school for these classes.
What can I expect if I do a course online through Pamoja?
A Pamoja course is run in the same way any online course is run, there will be set weekly tasks, assessments, and exams. The teacher will have video conversations with you throughout the course and you interact with other students in your class who are also complete the subject through Pamoja.
If I don’t like IB can I move?
Moving from IB DP to BSSS courses is treated like interstate students and on a case by case basis.
It is not possible to move from BSSS to IB DP courses unless resitting year 11.
Do I have to do the same language I studied at junior school?
No, you can do another language likely ab initio if not studied before.
What is the difference between MYP and IB DP?
A few common components e.g. Learner Profile, ATL’s and conceptual understanding with links across subjects. But MYP is a framework to organise (for us) the Australian Curriculum, whereas the DP is an international curriculum we have to follow.
