Interdisciplinary Learning
Power that opens doors to explore and soar
Interdisciplinary learning can connect authentic experiences to classroom learning and encourage students to see how subjects are related.
All students must engage with at least one interdisciplinary unit in each year of the MYP.
Examples of Interdisciplinary Learning at Merici:
In Year 8 students created picture books using their language skills from their additional language class, and their English skills.
Languages and Humanities in Year 9 get students to design a travel blog using language skills to share useful phrases when travelling.
Sustainability is an elective for students in Year 9 and 10 that uses students’ knowledge of science and the design process to consider creative solutions to issues of sustainability.
